17. It's pretty much the same here for me -

we came to Texas for my spouse's job. I have never fit in ... I do know there are local democratic clubs, though. If I were more social I'd go visit there and try their meetings/activities to meet people. Mostly I've just taken care of my kids and started plotting where we can go for retirement. We are in the suburbs of a big city, though, so I'm not sure what you would have in your area.
