He still has to do state time. Although, now they are pressuring Gov. Pritzker to pardon him. I hope he does not. There are people far more deserving of a pardon than Hoover.
Maybe he is genuine when he says he has changed. IMO, setting him free is Akin to setting El Chapo free. He made over 100 million dollars a year as a drug king pin. Even behind bars, he was calling shots. How many ruined lives? ruined communities because of the poison he sold to vulnerable people? How many deaths from overdose? How many people ended up in prison to feed their addiction? leaving children behind? and on and on?
There is also a push to free Tory Lanez, the rapper that shot Megan The Stallion. Same thing, pushed by conspiracy minded misogynistic nut jobs.
In their world, all these awful people were rail roaded, Bill Cosby, R. Kelly and even Diddy. Women are liars. Same folks trashed Fanni Willis.
I don't see trump and the GOP taking up the cause of black men that were really railroaded or given harsh sentences for minor offenses.

Where is the pardon for guys that were caught up in "3 strikes you are out?" - Life sentence after 3 offenses. One guy received his 3rd strike for stealing a fork.
Why is he languishing in prison and you want to free someone that profited from poisoning his community and ruined countless lives?
I don't recall if the guy that stole the fork had a drug problem, but there are many people in prison because they became addicted to the poison Hoover sold.
Meanwhile, he is arresting immigrants at work and telling us he is getting rid of dangerous criminals. At the same time freeing insurrectionists, fraudsters, drug dealers.
