I finished the last of the Bookmobile Cat Mystery series by Laurie Cass. For now [View all]
Yes, there are mysteries. Cozy. Someone, gets murdered.
But this is almost an aside. The hero is a stray cat, Eddie, that followed our narrator, Minnie, the local library assistant director, home one day. And then became a stowaway at the maiden journey of the new bookmobile.
Once the patrons, especially the children, discovered Eddie there was no way back. He became an important part of the treat. His human, Minnie the librarian, talks to him and he responds mrrr.
On that first trip, when he was running away, screaming MRRRKRR. a murdered body was found.
And so it went. He discovers a body and at the end is instrumental in identifying the criminal or helping subduing him.
But what is really enchanting is Minnie interaction with him. She expresses her thoughts, on everything, and he responds with mrrr. And he bumps his head under her chin, sleeps with her at the crook of her elbow and she kisses him on his head.
The story takes place at Chilson, Michigan, on the northern part of the lower area, a tourist town where the population swells in the summer and shrinks in the winter.
It is important to read the books in order as relations develop. Many interesting characters, the "regulars" and easy read.
Finished for now, as the next book is expected in August.
