Winter [View all]

The leaves have fallen
Trees spindly armed fight the wind
Cold from the North, biting frost
Cuts through the remains of the grassland
Snow, travelling horizontal razors
Slicing the eyes pointed northward
As Winter invades
The conquered defenders of Autumn

All things must die
Limbs slowly frozen
Heat pulled away
Blood becomes ice
And all life fades to black
In the last Winter
And all that we are disappears into time
Never to see Spring again

This is part of the first poem I posted here - "Seasons." I wrote this part when I was thinking about nuclear winter for some reason. It's the one I consider my best.

This will be my last one for a bit until I can come up with some more that are worthwhile to post. (I have lots more, but they're not very good, unfortunately). Thanks to everyone who has read these, as I appreciate your patience with my amateurish ramblings.
