but I disagree.

I've seen Strava turn my riding group into a bunch of ubercompetitive jerks who piss off drivers and other riders. Upping your game is fine, but we never had a problem with that before.

I don't think any entity has the right to turn public roads into their own race venue without any supervision. I believe they should be held at least partly liable in these cases, much in the same way a bartender can be held liable if they keep pounding drinks into a patron who kills someone on the drive home.
