Travis Kelce fined for unsportsmanlike conduct in AFC title game [View all]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Yesterday, six days after the Chiefs took down the Bills for their third straight AFC Championship win, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce got hit with a fine.

While there was no flag thrown on the play, Kelce got hit with an $11,255 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct after a one-yard Mahomes rushing touchdown. Following the second quarter play, Kelce could be seen talking in the face of Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

The supposed smack talk visibly upset Hamlin, as well as his teammate Jordan Phillips, who came over and headbutted Kelce. While Kelce seemed to instigate the situation, Phillips was the one hit with the flag, proving the popular idea that it’s always the second man who gets caught.

Phillips was also fined $6,722 for unnecessary roughness.
