EUROPEAN football’s superpowers were surprised to find West Brom at their secret ‘super league’ meeting.

Officials from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United attended the high-powered talks alongside West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace who was clutching a lukewarm pint of Foster’s.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said: “We were all saying how nice it was to get away from the riffraff, the Norwich Citys of this world, so it was a jolt to see Jeremy there in his Marks & Spencer suit.
