1. I consider religions to be the destroyers of humanity.

I approach religion as an agnostic atheist. I don't rule out the possibility of a God, but I feel no evidence has ever been presented to support their existence. If Jesus and a host of angels descended from the heavens tomorrow I would change my mind.

Religion has not only created damage in the form of dead bodies and countless religious wars but also in the stifling of human progress. Also, due to the delay in the advent of things like vaccines and other innovations in medicine, any resultant deaths can also be laid at the feet of religion.

Religious perspectives on abortion have also harmed many, including people forced to be parents and children damaged as a result of parents who weren't ready. It has harmed people involved in non-traditional relationships. Religious attitudes on homosexuality still kill people today in a number of countries, and imprison others. Religious disputes cause wars and territorial disputes and enable most forms of modern terrorism.

I understand religion can also do good but, but I see no value in it being a part of our State or Federal government.
