My Uncle from my Mothers' side passed over today at 86 [View all]
He was the last of that group of 9 siblings. I last saw him in 2004 when my Mom arranged for him & his wife, Barbara, to meet me at the DFW airport when I had a 5 hour layover.
He was in the USAF just after Korea ended, stationed in Okinawa, took the opportunity to travel in SE Asia, introduced me to spam fried rice in the 90s, and with 2 other of the brothers beat my father up for his beating my sister when she was a gradeschooler behind Busha W' garage (it worked TBH).
He gave me my & sisters our first ride in a red mustang with the top down, *that* turned him into a babe magnet, cause it showed he valued kids& family, had a steady good job& had a really nice car.
There were many get together of Moms family in the 50s-70s. He moved to Texas ( after a then "scandalous divorce following the collapse of the Detroit auto industry; over time he developed a Texas accent.
He leaves his wife, 6 adult children and I do not know how many grand children & greatgrandchildren.
He was good to me & my sister.
I will remember him fondly.
Rest Well Uncle Ed
