1. How is the researcher defining Christianity?

Christian Nationalists are often not followerers of the words of Christ. When they quote “the Bible” they mostly quote the a Old Testament. All of the Old Testament was written before Christ was born

In the New Testament only four books or gospels claim to be reports of what Christ himself and did during his purported 33 years on earth. No incest, no rapacious, marauding armies, no oppression of women and others.
Christ said there are two commandments one must follow, love god and love your neighbor as you love yourself and neighbor is defined as everyone.

The self-proclaimed christians of Christian Nationalism are usually talking about and championing other writings included in the Bible.. it it was called something else, such as religious nationalism or Old Testament nationalism there might be fewer people agreeing

Christian Nationalism is a misleading term (like pro-life) and I think there are many people who may say they agree with it because the word Christian is in the name.
