For years, we were told it was anemia, until finally we got the diagnosis it was myelofibrosis, which is treated with very expensive cancer drugs. Two pills a day at $2K each, luckily paid for by Medicare and his job insurance. It's where the bone marrow stops making red blood cells properly. He lived six years past diagnosis, among the longest time of anyone the doctor had ever seen. He was in his 80s when diagnosed.
