(3,521 posts)White conservative men in America get the white man's pass. It's a historic American tradition. Many immigrants to America align themselves with white conservative culture because they know that historically, that has been from where most power has been wielded in America and it's a safer realm with which to be associated. It's also a dangerous cabal to cross. Like we discussed earlier, there's little risk in going after VP Harris as a Palestinian.
Met an old friend for coffee yesterday who got married to a woman from China. She once told him regarding religion "I'm from China - Our religion is money." He is by no means a republican or conservative, but he said she was initially won over by trump. That didn't last. He did also say "thank goodness she doesn't really vote." It also made me think of trump's stronger than expected support among Latinos, many of whom are now acting shocked at his inhumane policies. This was a guy with a history of separating Latino children from their parents and putting them in cages yet he received a good chunk of Latino support over the clearly more humane candidate. I chalk it all up to the white man's pass.
