In reply to the discussion: This is how to handle the reporters that frame questions to put Democrats on the defensive... Great job Joe Neguse! [View all]ForgedCrank
(2,956 posts)it differently. He's an elected representative and they should all be asked the hard questions. They should also answer the questions as asked, regardless of how squirmy it may feel, and not change the subject like this. It's absolutely required to ALSO add this information to the response, but he never answered the actual question. I find this unacceptable from any angle. They all do it and it's about time they stopped doing it and stand proud of their position in front of the cameras and the public. I'm growing very tired of this nonsense. State your position without hesitation and say it like it is.
In addition, ALL questions from reporters that contain statements should be completely ignored. For example: "We know you are a complete idiot, but what will you do about xxxx?" This is an obvious exaggeration, but you get the point. These are not reporters, these are political operatives posting as journalists, and they should be shunned when they do it. That question should simply be "regarding subject xx, what is your position?". Period.
It's time to put an end to this side-show style politics, we need representatives and journalists, not a modern version of Barnum & Bailey.
