We're in an abusive relationship with the government and just trying to keep our bodies and souls and minds above water. My son and I talk about this all the time, and others as well.
his presence has made many people sick. magats are sociopaths, the rest of us are anxious, depressed, grief-stricken, and feeling hopeless and helpless and even sometimes despair. There's no rest from this. the republicans ruling are fucking zombies i swear they never sleep.
But we go on. We do what we can to advocate and promote and encourage democracy and the rule of law. And we have our moments. Yesterday, I went to a protest in Durham NC, expecting probably maybe 500 people? I mean there's a group who protest down there every Saturday and I've gone to that when there were maybe 10 people there.
There were AT LEAST 1,000 people! I think likely even more. We marched, and the march stretched for several blocks. Suddenly I was happy, hopeful and secure, knowing that I was doing the right thing, meeting the moment in the right way, and possibly even making a difference leading to change.
So it's a rollercoaster, it's miserable, and we did not choose it, but we can choose how we respond. I send love to you and all of DU and right thinking people everywhere.
Protest, rally, and march in Durham NC. Today.
