I'm not a socialist, at least so far, but it seems the ways the economy keeps getting consolidated into fewer and fewer people, and given what we've seen of the ethics of oligarchs, I don't see how we survive AI being left to their discretion. There need to be checks and balances as to how decisions are made--we've learned that an elected leader can be dangerous too. i just think it can't be left up to the short term bottom line of corporations with no concern for the ramifications for society and the planet.
AI needs to be answerable to the people. We should all benefit if there are profits made at the expense of employment--if there is less work, there should be more leisure, not more poverty. And there should be choices made where to preserve human reason and creativity even if a robot can do it faster.
