In reply to the discussion: Why are people saying Cole Allen didn't fire his weapon? [View all]stopdiggin
(15,614 posts)10. confusing terminology. the 'shell casing' is the part that DOESN'T spew out of the barrel
at thousands of feet per second. Routinely staying chambered in many actions until another round is physically 'racked' or chambered (i.e. pump action, bolt action, break action ..) The exception being a semi-automatic - which (is supposed to) automatically eject a shell casing while (again automatically) chambering and cocking on a new round, following every fired shot.
i.e. - Nothing unusual at all with a casing remaining in a gun. And I'm not sure why it would even bear comment - unless Blanche just doesn't have any idea of what he's talking about. (seemingly unlikely?)

What I have read is that Todd Blanche said the perp's shotgun was fired but the casing stayed inside the gun.

Shooter used a pump shotgun, didn't have time to cycle the next round, thus ejecting the first

Probably most people are saying that because they have seen other people say that.

According to Blanche they're having trouble locating the bullet(s) and may never find it!
