I know why trump co-opted the entire 250th celebration so that no one but his fans can play [View all]

It's because if there WAS a truly nonpartisan, educational and classy celebration that let everyone learn and celebrate our country, we would realize what we could be. We would celebrate our diversity, our achievements, and our strengths, yes. But we would learn about what we can do better as well.

We would learn about the importance of civic engagement and how we have always been a country that is imperfect. We would learn about how we can build on those improvements. We would be energized and motivated by the good works that have come before us.

But that's not what the right wants. So, our country is reduced to a partisan, tacky, poorly attended "celebration" that very few want to join. No great music. No great oratory. No joy.

Thanks, donald. You messed this up too. Another notch in your belt, I guess.
