28. No, and I'm beginning to think he's the consequences of our national karma.

He's our cosmic punishment for accepting and propagating the myth of American exceptionalism. We thought we were better than everybody else. We were the world's special people. There was something wrong with those Germans, they thought they were so great with their Nietzche and their Beethoven and all those scientists and scholars, and yet they let Hitler take over. We wouldn't have let something like that happen. It could never happen here!
