Nine million fewer people voted in 2024 compared to 2020, more than enough to explain Trump’s victory, especially considering he only lost by 88,000 votes in three states in 2020.

Coupled with a Democratic campaign crippled by Biden’s refusal to be the one term “transitional” president he promised to be, denying voters a true open primary, and giving Harris a truncated campaign period to make her case to the voters, Trump’s victory shouldn’t shock anyone.
