The investigation that led to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid of an Omaha meatpacking plant uncovered approximately 70 people who used stolen Social Security numbers and identities, leaving more than 100 victims, ICE spokesperson Tanya Roman said Wednesday.
The ICE investigation into widespread identity fraud led to the workplace enforcement operation at Glenn Valley Foods in south Omaha on June 10, where more than than 70 people were arrested and more than 65 are believed to remain in custody.
Roman said the identity fraud victims were left to face "devastating financial, emotional and legal consequences.
The news release did not provide a complete list of allegations but provided four examples of victims.
