can affect average people — things I didn’t know (if true).

Among the identity theft victims include a disabled person in Texas who struggled to access Social Security disability payments due to a Glenn Valley Foods employee’s fraudulent use of his identity.

One victim was denied medically necessary prescriptions in Pennsylvania after their name and Social Security number was used by a Glenn Valley Foods employee to gain healthcare benefits, she said.

According to Roman, a Glenn Valley Foods employee fraudulently used the identity of a Missouri nursing student, causing the student to lose access to college tuition assistance because they were falsely reported to make too much money. She said the same student also struggled to renew their driver's license because the person who used their identity had multiple unpaid traffic violations.

A California victim, Roman said, worked "for nearly 15 years to regain their identity and fix the financial damage"

The audit also found that 10 names used by employees at Glenn Valley matched those of people who had made Federal Trade Commission complaints. When agents reached out to those who had filed complaints, the respondents included the woman whose name and Social Security number Mejia allegedly used.
