I read In Cold Blood decades ago. My doors are locked no matter where I am. Car door too when I'm running into the gas station.

After every mass shooting all the neighbors or citizens in the area say, "this was such a nice, quiet area. We never thought it would happen here." Why not? What makes your area so special? This is America. It can and will happen anywhere.
