Cougars are entirely different animals from Leopards.

Matter of fact, the common ancestor we share with our Bonobo and Chimpanzee cousins dates back 6-7M years. The common ancestor between Cougars and Leopards lived about 10-12M years ago.

Thus, we're closer to chimps than cougars are to leopards.
