In Memoriam for Gary "Mani" Mounfield. 11/16/62 - 11/20/25. [View all]
Mani was bass player for The Stone Roses, an emerging British band of the mid '80s. He died at home of a seizure Thursday at 63. his wife died of cancer in 2023 so their 12 year old twin daughters are now orphans.
I confess I have no idea who The Stone Roses were, but I do know the band he joined after they broke up in 1997..
Mani co-wrote the bass heavy "Kowalski" with Primal Scream. The video features cut scenes from the 1971 movie "Vanishing Point" and begins with a car heist by Kate Moss and Devon Aoki.
Mounfield also Heisted part of the baseline from "Get Off Your Ass And Jam" by Funkadelic but applies his style in this instrumental.:
