self-titled first album has been one of my favorite albums for decades, and I also liked the Seahorses, the band Roses guitarist John Squire formed after the Roses broke up. I've posted both Roses and Seahorses music here.
The Stone Roses had a huge impact, including inspiring Oasis, whom they became friends with, starting when the Roses were working on their long-delayed second album near a studio where Oasis were working on their first.
I don't know if you saw the two threads I posted for Mani, the first in LBN - https://www.democraticunderground.com/10143568733 - with more info about Mani in the replies, including links to more articles.
I posted the same OP here in MA - https://www.democraticunderground.com/1034154886 - and after seeing no responses, I posted a reply with the Accolades section from the Wikipedia article on that first Roses album, to try to make people here aware of just how important the Roses were, how highly regarded that album was and still is.
I was just looking at part of a one-hour documentary on the first Oasis album tonight, and Mani's in it. At about 1:10, he says the debut album from Oasis "is probably the second best debut album of all time - next to mine" (meaning the Stone Roses debut). But Oasis had what was at the time the fastest selling debut album ever. Anyway, there are some other entertaining bits with Mani in here:
Oasis honored him tonight in Sao Paulo, Brazil, during the next-to-last gig of their 5-month reunion tour, dedicating Live Forever to him. You'll see Mani's face on the screen about 4 minutes in. And as Live Forever ends, Liam dedicates the next song - Rock 'n' Roll Star - to Mani as well.
