2. The only folks I know that call Social Security a scam are the people who are not relying on it to stay alive.

I don't know any retired people who do not rely on Social Security to meet their expenses.

The proof is in the pudding. Before Social Security and Medicare, seniors were among the poorest people in USA. Now they are the wealthiest.

Mission accomplished.

Guaranteeing a person a basic income if they become disabled or age out of the workforce is not how scams work.

Now we need to work on raising the fortunes of all the other Americans. Universal health care would be a good start. A guaranteed living wage for full-time workers would be nice. Free trade school and college for qualified people would be helpful. A national jobs program, similar to what we had under Roosevelt, would introduce and help prepare young people joining the workforce. Civil service should be expanded, not destroyed.

For the price of an elective war or two, maybe a couple corporate tax breaks, we could make life better for everyone.
