Flailing Trump, 79, Can't Keep His Story Straight on the War He Just Started

(Daily Beast) President Donald Trump can’t seem to explain why he went to war with Iran or what his goals are for the military campaign. The president has given four different explanations in two days about how long he plans to bomb Iran and what he envisions for the country’s future, leading to accusations that he’s making up the deadly military campaign as he goes along. The administration has also given shifting explanations about why Trump started the war in the first place.

Pentagon offers no evidence to support claim it attacked Iran in defense

(Politico) The Trump administration is making the case that it ordered expansive, deadly strikes to stop an imminent threat from Tehran, but is providing no evidence Iran had such plans. The report said the crown prince pressed for a strike despite earlier public statements in January in which he insisted Saudi Arabia would not allow its airspace or territory to be used for attacks on Iran. At the time, he called for dialogue between Washington and Tehran and said Riyadh respected Iran’s sovereignty.
