Trump says planned April 2 tariffs will 'start with all countries'

(NBC News) President Donald Trump said on Sunday that reciprocal tariffs he is set to announce this week will include all nations, not just a smaller group of 10 to 15 countries with the biggest trade imbalances. Trump has promised to unveil a massive tariff plan on Wednesday, which he has dubbed “Liberation Day.” White House economics adviser Kevin Hassett recently told Fox Business that the administration’s tariffs focus would be on 10 to 15 countries with the worst trade imbalances, though he did not list them.

Global stock markets fall as new Trump tariffs loom

(The Guardian) Stock markets across the world fell heavily on Monday after Donald Trump suggested that new tariffs he is expected to announce this week would hit “all countries”. Shares fell across Asia-Pacific markets and in Europe after the US president crushed hopes that “reciprocal tariffs” expected on Wednesday would only target countries that have the largest trade imbalances with the US.

JD Vance's role in Signal chat angers senior Republican lawmakers

(NBC News) Vice President JD Vance’s last-minute concerns about President Donald Trump’s decision to strike the Houthis in Yemen, raised in a now-public Signal chat with other top U.S. officials, have left senior Republican lawmakers angry. Some are upset because they think Vance was trying to block a directive from Trump. Others, reflecting a broader debate inside the administration and the GOP over the wisdom of embarking on a stepped-up campaign against the militant group, are upset about the side he took.

House GOP leaders look to hold off push to impeach judges by prioritizing hearings, bill to limit reach of rulings

(CNN Politics) When House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan sat with President Donald Trump at the NCAA wrestling championship in Philadelphia earlier this month, it was only a matter of time before they discussed the party’s brewing effort to impeach federal judges seen as blocking the president’s agenda. Trump and Elon Musk have publicly pushed GOP lawmakers to impeach federal judges impeding the administration – a call that a number of far-right GOP lawmakers have seized on, introducing impeachment resolutions in the House. But House GOP leadership has signaled in recent days that they don’t have the votes to greenlight the effort and are pursuing other avenues.

Moskowitz quips that Bin Laden supports Lee's bill to abolish the TSA

(The Hill) Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) knocked Sen. Mike Lee’s (R-Utah) bill to abolish the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA), suggesting only terrorists would support it. Lee reposted a Fox News article about his legislation and asked, in a post on the social platform X, “Who supports my bill to abolish TSA?” “Bin Laden,” Moskowitz responded, referring to the infamous al Qaeda founder, Osama bin Laden, who masterminded the attacks on the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. Bin Laden was tracked down and killed by U.S. special forces in Pakistan in May 2011.

Trump wants to move on from the Signal security scandal. House Republicans aren't making it easy

(The Independent) Republican national security hawks in the House are not making the White House’s efforts to move on from the “Signalgate” scandal any easier. As Donald Trump’s team trades blame and battles its critics, members of the House Republican caucus are facing their voters after The Atlantic published proof this past week that editor Jeffrey Goldberg had been mistakenly included in a group chat of Trump administration principals discussing plans for an imminent US strike on Houthi forces. The entire chat played out over Signal, an encrypted (but public) messaging app.

As 'Buy Canadian' grows, more US companies say retailers turning away their products

(Reuters) The "Buy Canadian" movement is sending new ripples of concern through the executive offices of U.S.-based consumer companies that banked on selling their products on Canadian retail shelves. U.S. President Donald Trump's jabs to annex Canada, the imposition of a 25% levy on steel and aluminum from Canada and threats to tax all other imports from the country have prompted a rallying cry among many Canadian shoppers to eschew U.S.-made products.

(Huff Post) Maryland Gov.
