Trump says Republicans should 'nationalize' elections

(Politico) President Donald Trump said Monday that Republicans should nationalize elections, continuing to double down on false conspiracy theories about widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election. The suggestion — which runs contrary to the Constitution’s delegation of election administration to state governments — comes less than a week after the FBI raided an elections office outside Atlanta, seizing ballots and other voting records from the 2020 election. “The Republicans should say, ‘We want to take over. We should take over the voting in at least 15 places.’ The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting,” he said during an appearance on former Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino’s podcast, which he relaunched Monday.

French Police Raid Elon Musk "X" HQ

(The Guardian) Prosecutors have raided the French headquarters of Elon Musk’s social media platform X and summoned the tech billionaire and the company’s former chief executive for questioning as part of an investigation into alleged cybercrime. “A search is under way by the cybercrime unit of the Paris prosecutor’s office, the national police cyber unit and Europol,” the Paris prosecutors’ office said in a post on X on Tuesday, adding that it would no longer be publishing on the network. The prosecutor’s office said it was examining “alleged complicity” in offences related to the platform, including the spreading of child abuse images and sexually explicit deepfakes, the denial of crimes against humanity and manipulation

Texas Democrat sworn in to House, shrinking GOP margin to 1 vote

(The Hill) Rep. Christian Menefee (D-Texas), a former Harris County, Texas, attorney, was sworn in as a member of the House on Monday after winning the special election runoff for the late Rep. Sylvester Turner’s (D-Texas) seat last week. “It’s been more than 330 days since the people of the 18th Congressional District had representation, had a voice in Congress,” Menefee said after being sworn in.

'Blood in the water.' Why Republicans fear an upset in MTG's backyard.

(Atlanta Journal-Constitution) Interviews with more than a dozen Republicans across the district show a party on edge — worried that Georgia’s fast-moving contest, voter fatigue, lingering unease over Trump, and — most of all — a fractured GOP field and a strong Democratic contender could put even this seat at risk. Mickey Tuck, a local activist, embodies the unease. He’s torn between three or four of the leading GOP contenders and no fan of Greene, who he said did a “big disservice” to the district by abruptly resigning after feuding with Trump. But he’s also convinced Democrats see an opening.

‘ICE conveyor belt’ illegally detaining, moving MN children to TX faster than courts can respond

Shortly after Elvis Joel Tipan Echeverria, a man from Ecuador with an open asylum case, pulled into the driveway of his Minneapolis home on Thursday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents broke a window in his car, pulled him and his 2-year-old daughter out and drove them away. In less than eight hours, Echeverria and his daughter were on a commercial flight to a Texas family detention facility, even though a judge had ordered ICE to return the toddler to her Minnesota home. “The court ordered the release of this child, and 20 minutes later they were put on a flight,” said Irina Vaynerman, whose organization, Groundwork Legal, is representing the man and his daughter.

Epstein Assistant Told Feds He Introduced Melania to Trump, Files Reveal

(Daily Beast) A one-time assistant to Jeffrey Epstein told the FBI effectively under penalty of perjury that the pedophile introduced Donald Trump to his wife Melania, a newly released document shows. The unnamed woman, a former model who worked as Epstein’s assistant for a year from 2005 to 2006, made the claim in July 2019, three days after her old boss was arrested by the FBI and charged with child sex trafficking. The 11-page, heavily redacted document was published in Friday’s dump of three million Epstein files and uncovered on Monday.

Bill and Hillary Clinton agree to testify in House Epstein investigation

(The Guardian) Bill and Hillary Clinton agreed on Monday to testify in a House investigation into the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, days before the chamber was expected to vote to hold them in contempt of Congress. “They negotiated in good faith. You did not,” Angel Ureña, a spokesman for the Clintons, replied to Comer, in a post on social media. “They told you under oath what they know, but you don’t care. But the former president and former secretary of state will be there. They look forward to setting a precedent that applies to everyone.”
